充分利用牛津高中英语教材培养学生书面表达能力

充分利用牛津高中英语教材培养学生书面表达能力 长期以来,如何有效地进行英语写作教学一直是困扰着广大英语教师的难题。英语写作作为一门综合性很强的实践课,它是培养学生综合运用语言基础知识(词汇、语法等)的有效手段;写作训练还可以培养学生的学习兴趣,锻炼学生的语言组织能力和逻辑思维能力。因此,在高中英语阶段英语教学中,我们必须重视写作教学,使学生在高中阶段掌握英语写作的一般方法和技巧,为学生进一步深造和进入社会打下良好的基础。 高中英语课程的总目标是“使学生在义务教育阶段英语学习的基础上,进一步明确英语学习的目的,发展自主学习和合作学习的能力;形成有效的英语学习策略;培养学习的综合语言运用能力”。积极开发和合理利用课程资源是英语课程实施的重要组成部分。英语课程资源包括英语教材以及有利于发展学生综合语言运用能力的其它所有学习材料和辅助设施。英语教学的特点之一是要使学生尽可能多地从不同渠道,不同形式接触和学习英语,亲身感受和直接体验语言和语言运用。 英语教材是英语课程资源的核心部分。因此,教师在平时的教学中要立足教材,充分利用教材培养学生的语言及语言运用能力。《全日制普通高等学校高考考试说明》对书面表达的要求是:在一定的语境中准确使用英语语法和词汇;使用一定的句型、词汇,清楚、连贯地用英语表达自己的意思。 因此,笔者在教学中立足课本,根据《全日制普通高等学校高考考试说明》的要求,主要从以下几方面培养学生的书面表能力: (一) 指导学生积累典型句型 积累是学习语言的最重要的方法之一。所以,在平时教学中,笔者特别注意指导学生积累典型句型。因为典型句型在书面表达中有“模板作用”。比如,在每单元的 Reading 和Project的教学中 ,我和学生一起先分析、总结一些典型句型,指导学生熟练地掌握典型句型的基本用法;然后指导学生灵活运用典型句型;同时鼓励学生用不同句式表达同一个意思,以提高学生实际运用语言的能力。以模块10为例,笔者整理以下一些句子并指导学生进行强化训练: 1. The one thing that is clear, however, is that young people are speaking with one voice, ‘To the cities!’(P19) 根据典型句型,翻译下列句子: ①有一件事情是显而易见的——学好英语是对年轻人的健康成长很重要。 The one thing that is clear, however, is that learning English well is important for teenagers’ growth. ②有一件事情是显而易见的——保护环境是我们全社会的共同责任。 The one thing that is clear, however, is that it is everyone’s responsibility to protect the environment. ③有一件事情是显而易见的——我们的未来掌握在年轻人手之。 The one thing that is clear, however, is that our future lies in the hands ’of the youth. 2. The work of international organizations, such as the United Nations, is even more important when you consider how much more severe the situation around the world would become… (P35) 根据典型句型,翻译下列句子: ①当你想想我们周围的环境已经被污染地多么严重时,你就会意识到环境保护多么重要。 When you consider how much more severely our surrounding environment has been polluted, you will realize how important it is to protect the environment. ②当你想想美好未来时,你就会意识到现在努力学习有多么地重要。 When you consider how bright our future will be, you will realize the importance of studying hard. ③当你想想健康的身体对我们意味着什么的时候,你就会意识到每天锻炼一小时的重要性。 When you consider how much good health means to us, you will realize how important it is to take exercise one hour a day. 3. One possible solution to this problem now being discussed is sustainable development. (P19) 根据典型句型,翻译下列句子: ①解决环境问题的根本方法是可持续发展。 One key solution to the environmental problem is sustainable development. ②解决环境问题的重要方法是提高人们的环境保护意识。 One solution to the environmental problem is to increase people’s awareness of protecting the environment. ③解决学生学习压力过大问题的方法之一是——教育学生对自己要有合理的期待。 One solution to solving the problem that students suffer from too much stress about studies is to educate the students to set a suitable goal for themselves. 4. What developing countries really need to do is to stop poverty by fighting the causes of it. (P3) 根据典型句型,翻译下列句子: ①发展中国家真正需要的是和平的发展环境。 What developing countries really need to do is to develop in a peaceful environment. ②发展中国家真正需要的是科学技术的创新。 What developing countries really need to do is the creativity of science and technology. ③发展中国家真正需要的是未成年人的教育。 What developing countries really need to do is to educate the teenagers. 5. One of the founding fathers of the Internet, Vinton Cerf, would no doubt agree that international cooperation is key to dealing with cyber crime. (P51) 根据典型句型,翻译下列句子: ①我们坚信:国际合作是解决国际争端的关键。 We would no doubt agree that International cooperation is key to settling the International disagreement. ②我们坚信:中国一定能为世界的和平和发展做出巨大的贡献。 We would no doubt agree that China is sure to make great contributions to the peace and development of the World. ③我们坚信:2008年北京奥运会一定能取得巨大成功。 We would no doubt agree that the 2008 Olympic Games will be a great success. (二)利用教材中的热门话题积累写作素材 《牛津高中英语?学生用书》中的题材涵盖了现实生活中的各个方面。如,学校生活、当代社会、自然之谜、环境保护、人际关系、科学研究、世界风俗、时尚潮流、人生规划、广告、体育、商业等等,贴近社会、贴近现实、贴近学生生活实际。同时体现“在运用英语的过程中学习英语”的教学思想,以话题为主线,以活动为形式,将话题功能、任务、结构有机地结合起来。以模块11为例: Module11 Unit1 Careers and skills Preparing for Unit2 Getting a job the future Unit3 The next step 教师可以这一模块的话题设计一篇guided writing,运用上面总结的典型句型写一篇文章。学生也可以根据自己的兴趣来写一篇和这个单元主题相关的文章。在这个写作过程中学生可以充分表达自己的思想情感,积极主动创造性的思考。在这个过程之学生的自主性学习能力得到提高。例如: Guided writing 提示: 现状:社会进步,经济发展,更多人有机会上大学。大学毕业生就业难已成为社会问题。 原因:部分学生缺乏: (1)独立工作能力 (2)与人相处能力 (3)接受未来挑战的准备 (4)…(自己发挥) 措施: 政府: 提供更多就业机会,鼓励大学生到农村,尤其是到经济欠发达的地区。 大学: 根据社会需要调整培养目标。 大学毕业生: 自信是成功的关键。 展望:明天会更好。 请用英语写一篇150词左右的短文。 With the improvement of society and the development of economy, more and more students have the opportunities to enter universities. However, the fact is that many graduates find it hard to get a suitable job. The reasons are as follows: Firstly, some graduates lack the ability of independence. Secondly, they don’t know how to get along with others. What’s the worst is that they are not ready to face challenges in the future. When we consider how severe the situation has become, it is high time we dealt with the serious social problem. One possible solution to the problem is that the government should provide more job opportunities for the graduates and encourage them to work in rural areas especially in those less-developed areas. In addition, I would no doubt agree that the universities should adjust the targets according to the needs of society. Most importantly, what graduates need to do is to overcome their weaknesses and equip themselves with rich knowledge.
